Sock Knitting: Rye Light Socks

ThRye Light sock pattern by Tin Can Knits is an absolute joy to knit (and it’s free!). It’s taken me an age to finish them thanks to work, the garden and those pesky two T1Ds that I’m raising, but every time I’ve picked the socks back up, I’ve been able to pick up the pattern again easily. Very satisfying! As a well-written, beginner-friendly pattern, it guides you through every step with clear instructions and helpful tips. I especially like the little drawing of the sock to help knitters visualise how a sock is constructed. Although I didn’t need this, I can see that it would be super helpful for those new to sock knitting.

The design itself is simple yet charming, with a lovely garter stitch panel that adds both texture and interest. Whether you’re knitting your first pair of socks or just looking for a relaxing, enjoyable project, this is a wonderful choice. Highly recommended for anyone who loves warm feet and a soothing knit!

I used Dandelion and Dogwood’s 4-ply sock yarn in the colourway Cheaper Than Therapy. How apt as these socks were knit at a pretty tumultuous time in my life and did in fact serve a therapeutic purpose many times!  D&D yarn is renowned for its softness, strength and stunning colours and I’m super happy with my choice!
